A Revolutionary project…

Recently, I had the privilege of working on a unique document dating all the way back to 1776 — an original military commission from the Revolutionary War era. The client did not have the actual document, it was a picture, and like many centuries-old artifacts, the ink had faded and the details were becoming difficult to read. There were also folds and one section possibly taped together.

Using digital tools, I enhanced the legibility of the document while maintaining its original aged appearance. Since the photo was taken at an angle that needed adjustment, as well as selective touch-ups to ensure the handwritten text remained true to the original while becoming more accessible to modern eyes. I’ve attached a before and after. I also provided the client a file with the full document transcript. AI was able to read it, I find AI does a great job reading old documents that are written in the formal cursive script commonly used in the 18th century.

It was an honor to assist in preserving and presenting such a meaningful piece of American history. If you have need of genealogy services for your family history project, check out my cousin's page on Facebook and reach out to her. Genealogist on board
